Oi. Name's Redtail. It's been a while since I've had to deal with people that aren't drug-crazed Marines. Not that I'm much different.
Send me shit, I'll get to what I can.
And for fucks sake. Don't drink the water.[independent OC blog. Multiverse friendly. Check my AU page!] ooc: Friendly reminder, don't like, dont' fucking follow, alright? Cool.
[[I gotta go get ready for my design show, but after I get back I’ll mostly be here trying to remember how to play him.
send him things or starters or something. I miss playing the big guy.
"I thought I lost you forever," he whimpered in response, face completely hidden in Cayne’s hoodie and his shoulders visibly shaking. The sound of his voice made him feel significantly smaller, more naive, as if he didn’t know that this is what happens to people like them.
He didn’t say anything for a good while after that. If it hadn’t been completely necessary to keep Gabe safe, he wouldn’t have done it, but it had been. Even so, a hint of regret settled over him as he took in the boy on his chest.
"C’mere." Making sure he had an arm firmly around Gabe, he sat them up and rearranged them into a more comfortable position that wasn’thalf hanging off the bed. He settled himself against the pillows, Gabe still pressed against him.
"I know. And m’sorry, but I had to. Might actually be gone forever if I hadn’t. Or you, too. Couldn’t take that risk."
"Namecalling?" Gabe mumbled, aware he was the one that started it, but just so glad to have the man by his side again, and exhausted, and nothing else mattered but this right now.
Eventually, he felt warm enough to scoot up closer to Cayne, slid an arm around his waist. Just like always. Even then, he was still a touch overwhelmed by such a ‘surprise’. A shuddered breath escaped him, the sound buried away by Cayne’s chest.
With his face pressed into the other man, he could feel the steady beat of his heart, solid reminder that somehow Cayne had evaded bullets once again and made it through. Still, he remembered those nights following September 5th, trembling.
Cayne had been perfectly fine with the sudden touch, welcomed it even, in his half asleep state. But when he felt Gabe shudder next to him, breath uneven against his chest, he pulled himself up out of whatever half sleep he’d been in, and forced his eyes open.
"Hey." Cayne kept his voice low, glad that at some point in the last year the two of them had figured out how to communicate without resorting to shouting. The hand of the arm Gabe was stretched across settled low on his back; an attempt to be comforting. "Hey. M’not goin’ anywhere anymore. Promise."
